Poetry on Saturday featuring Luisa Giulianetti & Sarah Kobrinsky

Join host Gary Thomas for the latest edition of Modesto-Stanislaus Poetry Center’s Poetry On Saturday in-person readings on February 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock. Come enjoy some high-quality wintertime respite and restoration via two fine poets’ words!  Our featured poets are Bay Area poets Luisa Giulianetti and Sarah Kobrinsky.

An Open Mic time will follow the featured poets. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be provided.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Born in San Mateo, California, Luisa Giulianetti was raised on her parents’ and grandparents’ immigrant stories, lore shared at the kitchen table, and books that transported her to countless places. She holds degrees from Santa Clara University and UC San Diego, where she began her career as an educator. Since 1994, Luisa has worked at UC Berkeley, teaching and directing programs for undergraduates.

Her writing appears in Brilliant Corners, CALYX, HerStry, Italian Americana, Motherscope, Ploughshares, Rattle, River Heron Review, Tule Review, and VIA. She and her husband live in Kensington, California, and they are the proud parents of two children. She enjoys cooking, hiking, and exploring the expansive beauty of the place she calls home.

Agrodolce, her first book, was published last fall by Bordighera Press.   

Sarah Kobrinsky is the former Poet Laureate of Emeryville, CA. She is the author of Nighttime on the Other Side of Everything (New Rivers Press).

Her poems and stories have appeared in Magma Poetry, Red Light Lit,      Eleven Eleven, Monkeybicycle, *82 Review, 100 Word Story, Fjords Review, among many others.

She was born in Canada, raised in North Dakota, seasoned in England, and tempered in California. Sarah and her husband have a handmade ceramic dinnerware company in the Bay Area called Jered’s Potterywhere she hosts regular literary workshops and readings. She is also a folk dancer, a martial artist, and an aspiring polyglot.
